06. Seeing Opposite Gender Properly
The Art of Mātṛvat-Darśana
👁️ The Distortion of the Lens
Lust is not 'sight'; it is a Disease of the Eyes. It makes us see a complex, eternal soul as a 'Salami' or an 'Object of Consumption.' This predatory vision is the root of all fall-downs. Proper Vision is the corrective surgery that restores the soul's natural respect for others.
🛡️ The Three Layers of Sacred Vision
- Mātṛvat (As Mother): This is the primary Vedic instruction for men. See every woman (except one's wife) as a Mother. This shift in identity instantly kills 'Sexual Aggression' and replaces it with 'Protective Respect.' You cannot lust after your mother.
- Jīva-tattva (As Soul): See the person as an eternal spark of God. They have a history of millions of births; they have a relationship with Kṛṣṇa just like you. Lust is an insult to their eternal dignity.
- Kṛṣṇa-Dāsī (As Servant of God): Realize that this person belongs to Kṛṣṇa. They are His property. Trying to 'enjoy' them for yourself is a form of spiritual theft (Stena).
📖 Scriptural Context: The Learned Vision
Cāṇakya Paṇḍita, the great moralist, gives the formula for civilization:
mātṛvat para-dāreṣu para-dravyeṣu loṣṭravat... "One who sees others' wives as his mother, others' wealth as as a lump of clay, and all living entities as himself—he is a truly learned man."
🛡️ The 'Proper DARSHAN' Protocol
- The 'Bowing' Intelligence: When you see an attractive person (physically or digitally), mentally bow to the Lord in their heart. Say: "My Lord, You are there. Please bless this soul." This 'Vertical connection' breaks the 'Horizontal lust.'
- Aśubha-bhāvana (Biological X-ray): If a visual trigger is very strong, use the 'X-ray' method. Realize that underneath the skin is only blood, bone, and stool. Why be agitated by a 'leather bag'?
- Eye-Level Management: Do not 'Stare' or 'Linger.' Practice the 'Second-Look' Constraint. The first look may be accidental, but the second look is an intentional choice for agitation. Move your eyes and save your soul.
🌟 Conclusion
Brahmacharya is not about 'Hating' the opposite gender; it is about Respecting them as they truly are. By adopting the 'Motherly/Paternal' vision, you liberate your mind from the prison of objectification and begin to see the world with the eyes of the wise.
